Below is information concerning materials required for painting
and studies. Course leaders are proficient with pencil, charcoal,
oil, acrylic, and pastel.
Some people may have their favourite cartridge paper that they
cannot travel without, or a field easel they always travel with,
some always love a certain pen or enjoy the challenge of a pencil
stub and something to lean on so these are suggestions.
Heavy easels will be available at the château for most
of the course but in the field there will be improvising. We will
provide all participants with the following essentials : A2 4mm
thick light weight hardboard boards, clips, jars, white spirit,
rags, kitchen towels (paper towels), palettes and chairs.
Each participant will also receive an orientation pack and ordinance
survey map when they arrive and there will be an optional outing
to the art shop on the first Saturday and later in the week.
Participants are strongly urged to bring:
We are located close to an arts supply shop. Participants will
have an opportunity to order materials in advance so that they
can be assured of supplies during the course and trips can be
scheduled during the week.
- Large paper or sketch pads of 11x14 inches or 14x17 inches
- Masking tape
- Clips
- Drawing materials (for example pastels /paint /charcoal /pencils
/ink
- Brushes
