Welcome

This website is about painting courses held in the Haute Vallée of the Aude department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southwest France. They are based around the Château St Ferriol which commands spectacular views and is in easy reach of some of the most stunning landscapes that the region has to offer.

Tutors are selected for their professionalism, proven record as practising professionalartists and their teaching track record. Most courses are suitable for students of all levels of experience and ability. Course leaders are able to assist with the handling of all the classic mediums : pencil, charcoal, oil, acrylic, and pastel. The courses focus on enabling tutors to spend individual time with participants and thus have opportunities to follow and address individual needs. Unless stated otherwise all courses are limited to eight participants.

A painting by Danielle Eubank, with the Château de St-Ferriol in the backgroundWhile it is difficult not to feel on holiday in this beautiful part of the world we do not expect this alone to satisfy participants. Courses are rigorously prepared and each course is is conceived individually and designed to draw upon the best that the selected tutor or tutors have to offer. We will enable and encourage students to overcome creative inhibitions, surprise themselves, extend their boundaries, and in so doing improve existing and acquire new technical skills. Opportunities for discussions and debate are included in the course structure. All luncheons and two dinners are included with each course. Herbs, salads and other garden produce come from the chemical free château gardens and a high standard of catering is maintained throughout the duration of the courses. Participants preferences and dietary requirements are accommodated in the individually planned menus. Early evening aperitifs provide people with an opportunity to chat about the issues of the day and again to discover some of the best of the patrimoine gastronomique of the Languedoc-Roussillon and of France.

Accommodation is not included in the global price of the courses and a number of meals are also organised in local restaurants. Good prices are negotiated and passed on to our clients. You will have the best the region has to offer and price options for accommodation to suit varying budgets.
